The Factory was created to promote young Northamptonshire musical talent, giving vocalists, bands and all styles of musical acts the exciting opportunity to perform for live audiences in well-known local music venues, supported by professional sound engineers. Acts develop their stage craft, originality and working with a lively audience!
Each ‘showcase’ is open to acts up to the age of 24 years old and with a semi-final/festival where 21 acts from these showcases are invited to play, we select around 8 acts each year to go onto our Final, both of which taking place at the prestigious Roadmender, and offering acts a chance to win a day at the acclaimed Far Heath recording studio, a photographic session at Prolific Studios and various other prizes. The winner is chosen by 5 guest judges who are specialists within the business and the live audience themselves act as an additional judge, voting on the night.
Started by Rotary Becket in 2004 (www.rotary-northampton.org.uk), ‘The Factory’ has grown, promoting more and more acts over the years, and in 2015 it was adopted by Northampton Music 365 to make up our Young Musicians Development Program
The 2015/16 season is already well underway with free entry showcases in2015 at the NN Cafe, The Lab and The Charles Bradlaugh.
We endeavour to make The Factory events accessible to ALL ages, ensuring venues are suitable for younger and older audience members, as well as being a respectable and responsible one too.
